Ancient Dubai (4,000 BCE - 630 CE)


The first recorded mention of Dubai goes back to 1587, but archaeological findings indicate that people have lived in the area since around 4,000 BCE. Back then, ancient Dubai was a small trading port where merchants exchanged goods like pearls, textiles, and spices.

In 1833, a branch of the Bani Yas tribe known as the Al Bu Falasah settled in Dubai and laid the groundwork for the Al Maktoum dynasty, which continues to govern the city today. The Al Maktoum family has been instrumental in shaping Dubai’s future, turning it into a vibrant trading hub.
